Initially, Brad and Heidi were set on buying an established home, but after struggling to find something that suited their needs and watching the market prices soar, they pivoted to building. “We couldn’t find anything we liked, and the prices had gone through the roof,” Brad explained. It was then they found a block of land and began considering building instead.

Customising their home design
Their home design is a true reflection of their style and practical needs. They combined elements from two different designs—choosing a facade they loved and tweaking the interior to suit their preferences. One of the Brazier family’s must-haves was high ceilings, a design element that they knew would make a lasting impact. It made the build process a little easier,” Brad noted. The kitchen and extended alfresco area became their favorite features, designed for entertaining their family of three grown boys and enjoying spacious, open-plan living.

Staying in the community they love
Brad and Heidi have lived in the area for almost 28 years, and choosing to stay there was a natural decision for them. “It’s a good community, a fairly safe area, and coastal,” Brad said. Their new home is located in the same suburb, allowing them to remain in the community they’ve loved for decades while downsizing now that their children have moved out.

Their home’s nomination as a finalist for the 2024 MBA Housing Excellence Awards was a rewarding recognition of the quality of their build. “I wasn’t actually that surprised it got as far as it did,” Brad shared, expressing pride in the product they received and hoping New Choice Homes is recognized for their efforts in the future.
