We recently undertook a development project for an investor, involving a “house behind house” design. The brief was to design and construct a compliant double-storey dwelling while preparing and retaining the site.

Throughout the project, we faced various challenges, including the need for retaining walls and new fencing to the rear and right side of the property. The close proximity to neighbouring properties required additional engineering to prevent any disturbance to their foundations, which we successfully achieved through the use of chemical injection solutions.

Building a double storey dwelling on a rear lot, alongside an existing property is always challenging due to space and access restrictions. However, our team was able to navigate these constraints, whilst ensuring compliance with council requirements. Our team was also able to design a dwelling that minimised any potential overlooking of neighbouring properties from the second storey.
